I was afraid the thick laquer would have cracked when I sawed into the headstock causing flakes of poly to come off, but luckily no. Unward ho ! 🤔

Was afraid it would be on the heavy side with the center block, but that bit is apparently as light as balsa wood. Going to the builders merchant now to find a suitable piece of wood for the headstock modification and some really good wood glue.
