A quick loop becomes a tone check, which becomes a feel check, which becomes a “wait, this sounds better at half speed,” and suddenly the cat has left, the coffee is cold. And the original riff is still on trial.

Tuner the cat, naturally, has already heard this routine and is emotionally unavailable.
